ENERGY ANATOMY (Yuanji theory applied to the human body)

The human body has three meridians or energy channels.  The front meridian, running from the forehead down to the bottom of the front torso at the perineum, is called the “REN” channel.  The back meridian, running from the back of the head down the spine to the bottom of the torso at the perineum, is called the “DU” channel, or the “GOVERNOR’S” meridian.  The central meridian, running from the top of the head right through the center of the torso, is called the “ZHONG MEI” channel.  This central meridian is unique to Yuanji.  It is not found in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

See Figure 5 below for an illustration of the three meridians or energy channels.

There are also 12 cardinal meridians that exist in other parts of the body.  They are as follows:

3 hand-yin meridians which run from the chest along the insides of the arms to the palms and fingers.

3 hand-yang meridians which run along the outsides of each hand and up the outsides of the arms to the head.

3 foot-yang meridians which run from the head down along the back and along the back of the legs to the toes.

3 foot-yin meridians which run from the toes along the insides of the legs to the chest.

There are also 6 extra meridians in addition to the REN and DU meridians/channels.  For our present purposes, we will concentrate only on the REN and DU channels.  The REN channel/meridian is also sometimes known as the “SEA OF YIN” because it connects to all the inside and front YIN meridians of the body.  The DU channel/meridian is called the “SEA OF YANG” because it refers to the outside and back YANG meridians of the body.

YUANJI WITHIN THE HUMAN BODY

The YUAN within our bodies are the 3 energy channels (REN, DU, ZHONG MEI) and 12 energy centers.  The JI within our bodies is on the top of our head forming an energy pattern which takes the shape of the Yuanji diagram (see Figure 6 below).

The Huangji palace is the soft spot on the top of our heads.  0.9 inches to the left of the soft spot is the Wuji palace. 0.9 inches to the right is the Taiji palace.

Continuing with the discussion on “YUAN”, we have the REN channel running down the front of the body.  This REN channel consists of 4 energy centers.  Three of these energy centers are called DANTIAN and the fourth is called GONG, (which translates as PALACE).

DANTIAN

DANTIAN consists of the two Chinese characters “DAN” and “TIAN”.  DAN means “medicine”, and TIAN literally means “a field”, but in this context it means “factory” or “manufacturing plant”.  Taken together, the meaning of DANTIAN is “medical manufacturing plant”.  Every human body has a “medical manufacturing plant”, a factory that manufactures medicine.

This “medicine” that we ourselves create within our own bodies is unique.  It is more precise and effective than gene therapy, because this medicine is for a particular person alone.  Everyone has this medicine but each person’s medicine is different and unique to oneself. Through the practice of Yuanji and Yuanji meditation we each have the potential to cure our own diseases via our DANTIAN.

In the REN channel, there are 3 Dantian and 1 Gong/Palace.  The DU channel has 4 energy centers.  Three of these energy centers are called Passes and the fourth is called a Gate.  The ZHONG MEI channel (Central Meridian) also has 4 energy centers consisting of  3 Yellow Courtyards and 1 Palace. The 12 energy centers of the REN, DU and ZHONG MEI channels are listed in the tables below and are illustrated in Figure 7.

REN CHANNEL

1) The Lower Dantian is dedicated to the Element Qi, especially for postnatal Qi which is       obtained from the outside.

2) The Middle Dantian is dedicated to the Element Light which is gained postnatal from the       outside (for example, by looking at the sun)

3) The Upper Dantian is for the Element Tone.

4) Tan Gong is the place where Element Qi and Element Light are mixed together.

They blend together and evolve and rise into the Upper Dantian as the Element of Tone.

Tan Gong is also associated with the 5 solid organs of the body (spleen, lungs, heart, liver,   kidneys).

DU CHANNEL

1)      The Tailbone Pass corresponds to the prenatal Element Qi (the Qi that we were born with).

2)      The Dorsal Pass corresponds to the prenatal Element Light

3)      The Jade Pillow Pass corresponds to the prenatal Element Tone

4)      The Vital Gate, like the Tan Gong from the REN Channel, mixes up the Elements Qi and Light to create the Element Sound in the Jade Pillow Pass.  It is associated with the 5 hollow organs of the body (stomach, large intestine, small intestine, gall bladder, urinary bladder.

During Guan Ding Treatment (see Guan Ding Treatment handout), the Yuanji practitioner places his/her palms on the patient’s Vital Gate and Tan Gong points.  This interconnects the 5 solid organs with the 5 hollow organs.  The organs are thus tonified and balanced.

ZHONG MEI CHANNEL

1)      The Lower Yellow Courtyard is created when the energy in the Lower Dantian of the REN Channel and the energy in the Tailbone Pass of the DU Channel combine and meld. This happens only when the energy from those two points are strong enough.  This strength is created from repeated applications of the Yuanji energy transfer practice and through Yuanji meditation.  Only when the energy is really strong in the Lower Dantian and the Tailbone Pass can the Lower Yellow Courtyard come into existence.

2)      The Middle Yellow Courtyard is created when the energy from the Middle Dantian of the REN Channel and the Vital Gate from the DU Channel are strong enough in energy to combine and meld into one.  As with the Lower Yellow Courtyard, this strength is gained through Yuanji practice (Guan Ding Treatment) as well as Yuanji meditation.

3)      The Upper Yellow Courtyard is created from the melding of the Upper Dantian of the REN Channel and the Jade Pillow Pass of the DU Channel.

4)      The Golden Palace is created from the melding of the Tan Gong (REN Channel) and the Dorsal Pass (DU Channel). Steps 3 and 4 are a simplified explanation of what occurs.  In actuality, the process is yet more complex, involving many more steps before the Upper Yellow Courtyard and  Golden Palace are really open.

The Zhong Mei Channel can be formed when you build up the Lower Yellow Courtyard through Yuanji meditation or through Guan Ding Treatment.

This process can be illustrated within the Yuanji diagram (see Figure 8)

Figure 8 just illustrates the first level.  The Yuanji Diagram is created at all the levels, thus forming a holographic Yuanji Diagram within the body (see Figure 9).  The Central (Zhong Mei) Channel is your energy center.  This is unique to Yuanji and does not exist in any other TCM practice.  How do we know that the Yuanji diagram is created within our body?  When you receive the Yuanji Guan Ding Treatment and practice Yuanji meditation you will actually see the diagram within your body and on the top of your head, not just in your imagination , but in reality.

The Yuanji Guan Ding Treatment and Yuanji meditation are based entirely on the process of energy evolution as depicted in the Yuanji diagram.
